Preparing for your kayak trip

To ensure you have a wonderful trip down the river, we recommend the following:

  • Wear shoes that stay on your feet and you do not mind getting wet. When loading and unloading there may be rocks and uneven terrain.

  • Wear clothes appropriate for the weather and for potentially getting wet. Although, most of the time patrons only get their feet wet or get wet by splashing each other (which is a must when it is hot!), we recommend wearing clothes that are lightweight and dry easily. Of course, if it cooler layers are good. You can always remove layers if needed.

  • Don’t forget your sunglasses and/or a hat.

  • Even if it is cooler, bring sunblock as the sun can be intense on the water.

  • Bring water or other beverages and snacks. Even for the shorter trips patrons get thirsty and having a snack is always nice. For the longer trips, some stop off for a picnic lunch. There is plenty of room in the kayak for a small cooler!

  • Bring bug spray. At certain times of the day, it can get a bit buggy in some areas. This is usually not a major issue, but it is always good to be prepared.

  • If you plan to bring a phone, keys or other valuables a waterproof case or dry bag/box is recommended. We have carabiners to attached them to your kayak.
